Intensive Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Local officials said the urban area endured heavy assaults overnight. A young boy was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks come after evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the country's energy grid, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
