2K Brings Onboard Apex Legends Developer to Revitalize Troubled Hero Shooter Project Ethos

2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Shift Follows Mixed Response

The new appointee assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster early showing last fall.

Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the requirement for a distinct vision.

The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Hires

The news follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise development group.

Below is the full text from the president's communication:

The trust in Project ETHOS grows every day. To further the remarkable advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the incoming Lead of 31st Union. After several months of talks, he officially joins us on next week.

Ben’s leadership and background in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half developing and leading some of the most recognizable titles in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
